We had the most amazing weekend! Allen, his two friends, four dogs ( yes four!), and I camped at Kirk Creek Campground Saturday night. Its a beautiful campsite that sits on the edge of a cliff on highway one. $25 a night, thats it! We had so much fun sitting around the fire, eating, and playing games.
My favorite campsite is #15 it sits right next to the ocean so you have completely unobstructed views of the beautiful cliffs and ocean. Its surrounded by bushes (poison oak bushes so beware) so its very private, you really feel like you're there by yourself. Theres also a short little path from campsite #15 that leads you to the edge of the cliff where they have two benches to sit and enjoy the views.
Sand Dollar Beach is about 5 miles south of the campground and its the largest most accessible beach in Big Sur. We played volleyball (while trying to dodge random rocks hidden in the sand, ouch!) and the guys swam in the ocean with all the pups.
There was also a 1/2 mile trail that led us down to a rocky beach thats perfect for watching the sunset or washing the poison oak off of the dogs ha!
If you are ever in Big Sur, you HAVE to camp here it is seriously the most amazing experience.
